Who Is Steve Saylor?

Hi, I’m Steve Saylor. I’m an accessibility consultant, content creator, and public speaker dedicated to making video games more inclusive for everyone. Through powerful storytelling, I share the experiences of disabled players to highlight why accessibility matters in gaming. My mission is to educate, inspire, and drive positive change in the industry—one story at a time.

Game UX Summit 2023 - Talk: “I Thought I sucked at games, but games sucked for me.”

What kind of a talk are you looking for? Here’s the topics I cover:

Accessibility

Speaking from lived experience of being disabled, I can provide the gamer, creator, or personal perspective around disability and accessibility.

Inclusive Technology

Being a lifelong lover of tech and new ideas in the tech industry, while also being a disabled user, I can talk about or discuss inclusive technology to help disabled users in their day-to-day lives. While also discussing the dangers of “good intention in innovation” but not actually helping disabled users.

Gaming

As a lifelong gamer from the 1980’s to present, speaking on the broader context and perspective of the video game industry, I can speak to what’s important to gamers and the industry as a whole.

Content Creation

I have been a content creator for 20+ years and have seen it all from the rise of podcasting and social media, to the video platform revolution from YouTube to Tiktok. I can discuss best practices for social media and content creation, while also being accessible at the same time with minimal effort.

Game Development

Working behind the scenes with game studios from AAA to independent, I can provide a bigger picture focus, or micro focus to game development.

Tabletop Gaming

Being an inclusive Game Master and player in the Tabletop Gaming space, I have a unique perspective of creating inclusive stories and providing best practices for disabled representation in the space.
